It was a quite a bit more grueling than I expected it to be. Sitting down and reading your own work that closely is like examining your face in one of those super-high-magnification mirrors. I received the copy edited MS of THE NATIVE STAR yesterday (my copy editor is Faren Bachelis, who is, if the red and blue scribblings on my pages are any indication, a swell person) and will be diving into that over the weekend. I am happy [...] Aaaa! Squee!! I got my edit letter on both THE NATIVE STAR and THE DESIRED POISON THE UNNAMED SEQUEL today, from my fantastic editor Anne Groell at Bantam Spectra. I have read over the letter, and I am SO pleased with what Anne has caught. These edits are going to make both books so [...] You know, the process of book publication is much like walking on a lonely beach swinging a metal detector. 95% of the time you cruise along hopefully, waiting for something to turn up. 1% of the time you strike gold.
