One thing I wanted to mention (both to you and to Jaime, below) is that I will be bringing out a trade paperback version as well … so you’ll be able to read it without buying an e-reader, if you like. Which is not to dissuade you from buying an e-reader if you want!

Okay, that does sound scarrier than I had imagined. Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is one thing, but making your own boots is another. If it helps at all, I have been looking at buying an e-reader specifically because you are publishing this story. Those of us who are paying attention are cheering you on.

Yeah. Terror and I are best friends these days. What you’re doing is even scarier. You are a brave, brave woman.

The only thing that makes me sad about you putting the next book in the series out this way is that I won’t get to read it anytime soon. Maybe not for years.

I don’t have an e-reader and I can’t afford one either. I am the poster child for struggling writer and rent, and cat food come first.

It’s the damn video that’s giving me fits at the moment. I opened up iMovie yesterday to see how much of it I remember from making my book trailer two years ago—and the answer is … nothing! Gah! It’s one of Apple’s more non-intuitive programs, to say the least.

It’s interesting that you bring up the comics folks. I don’t think we writers who are venturing into this “new publishing” model quite recognize how much they’ve blazed the trail for us.
