Oh, dammit. I have found a place online with good prices on three sewing machine feet I absolutely must have if I’m going to attempt a new dress (a ruffler foot, a hemming foot, and and overcast foot.) And I have found black taffeta (polyester, natch) for $2.49 a yard.

OK, maybe I’ll make the dress. But I will not make a new corset. I do not have time to make a new corset. I WILL NOT MAKE A NEW CORSET, AND THAT IS MY FINAL WORD ON THE MATTER.

One must be strict with one’s costuming impulses, or all is lost.
