And he is a cat. Yes, it turns out that Felix, the boy-cat that I rescued from Clackamette Park, is the smarmiest little dude I’ve ever met. If he were a skunk, he’d be Pepe Le Pew. See, he’s decided that he simply ADORES me. This weekend, while I was doing page proofs, he sat by me the whole time, gazing at me worshipfully. If I made the mistake of acknowledging his presence—or even just looking in his direction—he would take this as an invitation to step all over my manuscript to rub his cheek against my face, purring wildly.
This cat is my total love slave. It is very weird. I am used to highly indifferent cats. Maybe it’s because he’s a boy; I’ve always had girl cats and while they’re sweet and all, they’re not usually lovey-dovey. Well, at least not to this extent.
It’s kind of nice to get a little romance back in my life, I guess.
In other news … wow. Too much going on. I finished the page proofs for THE NATIVE STAR over the weekend, and they’re on their way back to NYC. It was a difficult process. As a pathological perfectionist, I don’t function well in “this is your last chance to touch this creative product EVER” situations, and so I have been a miserable ball of angsty angst. But I’m getting past it. Movin’ right along.
Speaking of movin’ right along, there are some awesomely fun things on the way, including more historical articles (damn, I thought I could keep up with doing one a month, but that hasn’t worked out, has it?) a flash site and book trailer. Also coming soon: my story “The Hag Queen’s Curse” (which appeared recently in Realms of Fantasy) is going up on Podcastle on April 13. Christiana Ellis (one of my favorite readers) is going to be doing the narration, so it should be AWESOME. I’m also making good progress on a new novel, getting words in on it most every day. So, yay that.
Happy Spring, everyone!
