1) “Felix” has taken over our house. Seriously, I’ve never seen a moggy make himself more at home more quickly than Felix (we settled on “Felix” because “Lucky” sounds like a dog’s name). Despite the fact that we’ve given him the run of the place, he’s quite the fussy little complainer. He’s one of those cats that wants to be out when he’s in, and wants to be in when he’s out. And, just like Glenn Close in “Fatal Attraction”, He Will Not Be Ignored. His yowling, door-scratching contortions will escalate in desperation and intensity until you let him in. Once you let him in, he’ll wander around diffidently, decide that the inside of the house is even LESS satisfactory than the outside, and demand to be let out again. Rinse and repeat. I know I’m making him sound like a little jerk, but as you all know, I have a soft spot for jerks. Overall, he’s slid himself nicely into our little cat society here. He’s filling out and well on his way to becoming fat and happy.
2) I am expanding my knowledge of Flash, including ActionScripting. ActionScripting is some crazy-ass sh*t, but I am getting a glimpse of how powerful it is. Having sampled that power, I want more. I want to make ActionScript my bitch. I think there is a Clackamas Community College class in my future.
3) I am behind on eighteen ba-zillion projects. How is it I get so far behind on so many things? Maybe because I have eighteen ba-zillion projects to begin with. I know I am a serial overcommitter, but there are so many fun projects in the world! Flash Websites! Stories! Book Trailers! Podcasts! Blogs! Twitter! Facebook! And of course, then there is the day job and the need to accumulate the coinage of the realm. Sigh. Just not enough hours in the day.
4) Speaking of projects, I have been remiss in pimpage. I invite you to check out my zany 1980’s Adam Ant Pirate story “The Hag Queen’s Curse” in the April 2010 Realms of Fantasy. According to editor Douglas Cohen, the illustration includes the magazine’s first EVER depiction of a bong. (I’m all about breaking down barriers, people.) The story has also been picked up by Podcastle, and will be appearing there soon. Also, I have been recording stories for Fantasy Magazine, and the latest—”Tenientes“, by Nathaniel Williams—is up on their site. It’s a fantastic story, and I think the recording turned out pretty good, especially since I ended up recording it after a Valentine’s Day vodka binge, which meant I had that sexy sultry hangover voice.
