My Authorial Debut

The Thrilling Sequel

Happy Happy, Merry Merry

I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful holiday. Here at Chez Hobson, presents have been opened, a luxurious brunch has been consumed, and now we’re all lazing about. The pleasure of my lazing is being greatly increased by the ARC of N.K. Jemison’s “Hundred Thousand Kingdoms” which was passed along to me by the angelic Rachel Swirsky. I’ll report more fully when I’m finished, but so far the book is utterly gripping and wonderful. Put this one on your must-read list for 2010, peoples!

In an hour or so, we’ll head over to my mom’s house for dinner and puzzles and more lazing. Tomorrow, there are plans in the offing to see Sherlock Holmes. And then it’s back to work, hammering away at my book edits. On that front, I’m quite pleased with how everything is progressing, having figured out how to smooth over some inconsistencies and infelicities.

All in all, life is good. I hope you’re all enjoying food, friends, and family in whatever proportion of those makes you happiest. ;-)

    Happy Holidays, MK!

    Yay! Happy day!

We tried to go to Sherlock Holmes Naked Naked Naked, but it was sold out so instead we went to Colin Firth Semi-naked Naked Naked (Alyx's joke).

The Jemison book sounded intriguing when I first heard tell of it. I shall look forward to an extensive Hobview (which is like a cross between a hobbit and a book review, but by a prominent writer and smart-ass who disguises herself as a creative consultant by day). ;-) Any chance of ARCs of your novel? (I have been known to sell the occasional book review …)

    Happy goo year.

I intend to write a full review as soon as these book edits are off my
desk, but I can tell you without reservation that I thought it was
utterly fantastic and wonderful. I feel sorry for all the poor suckers
in the world who have to wait until March to read it. ;-)

As far as ARCs go, it will probably be a while before I can get my
hands on one, but I'll be happy to send it along when I do …

And speaking of book edits, here's me diving back into them …. Happy
    New Year!

In case you're interested, MK, you were mentionned in the editorial of Locus #587. Woot!
