My Authorial Debut

The Thrilling Sequel

Happy Birthday, Douglas Lain

Douglas Lain is a swell guy. He’s one of my best buddies and today, he turns 40 39 years old. I am really impressed by his ability to write brilliant fiction and be a Methodist minister at the same time. His deep and abiding faith in the word of God is an inspiration to me. Thanks to Doug, my soul may not be exactly saved, but at least I’ve moved it out of riskier equity investments and into stable government bonds.

He’s got a book coming out with Tor at some point, which may or may not be called “Billy Moon: 1968″, which is a book about the student uprisings in Paris in 1968. It is a swell book, full of anarchy and revolution and the word of God. Also, Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin are in it. But since you can’t get your hands on it yet, I recommend buying his short story collection, Last Week’s Apocalypse. And also you should listen to the Diet Soap podcast, which is a swell podcast full of anarchy, revolution, and the word of God.

Anyway, if you’ve a mind to, get over to his blog, or his facebook, or wherever, and tell him Happy Birthday.

I wish I looked as good as the first picture that pops up under an image search for “Mary Hobson.” “http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hartsookballfamily/mary-hobson-phair-photo.jpg”

Seconding the love. Last Week's Apocalypse was one of the most understated-yet-groundbreaking collections I've ever read. Happy Birthday, Doug!
